Weeks in Review
Currently listening to: "Ya Shosla S Uma" by t.A.T.u.
Ooooook... So I've been away for almost a month now...and I guess quite a bit has happened.
WORK:
I actually confessed to my boss that I "hate my job" and to a VP that I "hate my fucking job," respectively...and I didn't get fired...! But yeah, like I mentioned in my last post, it's been feeling like I'm the office slave and it's frustrating, but I won't bore with any of those details. Long story short, people have been talked to and things actually have improved a bit work-wise...in some ways...but we'll see how long it lasts.
HAWAII:
Yup, believe it or not, I actually went to Hawaii for three days a little over two weeks ago...but it's not as glamourous as it sounds. I was helping my friend Dan and his brother Tom unload a freight container as Tom is moving from here in California to Maui. It was a cool experience though...and for some reason it seems like every time I leave L.A. I end up going to a Wal-Mart wherever my destination is. But seriously, I would move to Hawaii if I could afford it. The air is fresher there, the ocean looks nicer, the people are waaaaaaay more friendly...first place I ate at after we landed was a McDonald's in the working class community Tom is moving in to...and it was actually a very nice McDonald's...all the metal was polished, the tables and floors were clean, nothing was carved into or written on the tables and walls...very cool, simple yet effective decor...the people seemed really happy just to be at work...and it all felt so genuine...it was weird...and when I think about it, in comparison, living in L.A. sucks...! I definitely prefer the working class area of Maui compared to the touristy area... Almost got tattooed but the first available appointment was the day I was leaving and several hours after I was set to land in Los Angeles...so that obviously didn't work out... I did, however, tweak my back on the last day...
AIRPLANES:
Hawaii was my first time flying in about, um, probably 16 to 18 years...and only the second time I've left the state of California. I have a big fear of flying due to my fear of heights. The idea of being in a metal tube that many thousand feet in the air freaks me out. Before the plane even took off Dan said I turned white and it was at that moment I felt like I was going to swallow my tongue...but then I popped a pill that made me drowsy and slept through most of the flight...although I was right next to the crapper, so people kept bumping into me and woke me up a lot... Flight back kinda sucked because I was having stomach problems and at the time the new flight restrictions had just started...and I was in row 14 (the faux row 13 as there is no row 13 on planes) and I had the window seat...on the wing of the plane...needless to say, that Twilight Zone episode with William Shatner kept playing through my head...but I survived...
DREAMS:
I've been having some weird-ass dreams lately... I don't remember all the details, but I do remember that in the first dream I had recently, I got off an elevator and found myself in a small lobby filled waist-high with stale Froot Loops... I could see through the glass doors and windows of the lobby that it was raining spaghetti sauce outside. In another dream I was with my friend Dan and we were at some large get together and Jesus was actually there. Dan went up to shake his hand and I gave Jesus a friendly pat on the back. He then backed up and sort of stepped on my foot a bit...then I woke up...wonder what that all meant... The last one I remember was in a setting that resembled a mixture of a scene from the 'Evil Dead: Hail to the King' video game and in this massive awesome tree I saw in Lahaina. I was with a group of people and we were somehow thrust into a knife throwing 'contest' by some tribal savages. The goal was actually simple and in a way reminded me of the last vignette in 'Four Rooms'...how this all worked in the dream is I was to throw a blade into a giant tree and if it didn't stick, they would kill (and probably eat) us all. I'm not sure what the prize was if I made the blade stick...that wasn't discussed. I did miss, but woke up before those sons of bitches could even lick me...
SCARY:
There was a party going on at the (what is essentially a frat) house next door tonight, or technically last night...from like 9 until 1...and my mom and I were already kinda pissed at the time (shortly after 11), so we went in the backyard and yelled over the wall...I started by yelling out "SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!"...but then when my mom yelled over the wall I don't even remember what she said but the tone and the loudness of it resulted in the same scream she would use when she was really angry when I was young. It took me to a weird place and kinda freaked me out. I was quick to be like 'Mom, let's go in the house and call the police'...which we did, and they came...but I don't think I could've taken much more of that yell...I didn't even do anything wrong and I was ready to cower in fear...
So that's been life as of late...well, most of it...or some of it... If I can think of anything else to share, I'll be sure to post it soon.
Sorry for the long post...
Time for sleep...
