For All You Geeks...

Currently listneing to: "They Said Hell's Not Hot" by Marilyn Manson

Here's a webpage that compares sizes of starships, aliens, and even the fucking Deathstar to other scifi properties and real life objects...click the links at the top of the page to see the graph comparisons...
http://www.merzo.net/

In other news, the new Marilyn Manson album is just kind of, well, 'eh'...I can see why they released "If I Was Your Vampire" and "Heart-Shaped Glasses" first as those are the most listenable and memorable...there are some cool parts to other songs, but the sum of the parts do not equal a whole...iduno, maybe it'll grow on me (I doubt it...especially since Pogo is out of the band now...sadness...)...what's with everyone doing all this self-indulgent bullshit these days? That's yet another reason why Scandinavian Folk Metal is THE SHIT because it's just brutal, kick-ass music about Gaulish wars, pagan rituals, and trolls and shite...

My Scattered Return...

Currently listening to: "If I Was Your Vampire" by Marilyn Manson

So it's been three weeks since the last post...

Since the last writing they still haven't found a replacement for me for my old job, so I've been doing two gigs for the price of one...the silver lining to the mushroom cloud is that I've been collecting a lot of overtime, but the stress has been overwhelming especially at this point in time...not that I've been outwardly complaining, but they keep telling me to 'be patient'...they haven't even started interviewing anyone yet...

I had a whole list of things I compiled to talk about here on ye olde blog, but I can't seem to find it right now...so, um, yeah...so I'll just say this: I started taking anti-depressants... I've been depressed for a really really long time and the death pushed me a little further towards the edge... After I take that tiny little pill I can feel that there is a chemical in me...and I guess it works in a sense because (for now?) it gives me stomach pains and diarrhea...which took my mind off being depressed...just replacing one pain with another...I thought this shit was supposed to make you happy or whatever...

Oh, not that anyone will really care, but the new albums by Nine Inch Nails and Ozzy Osbourne that were released in the past month or so both suck giant balls...they need to just stop...the new Megadeth has great riffs but Mustaine's voice still irks me sometimes and he gets really preachy as this album is obviously inspired by the Iraq war and the current state of the US...but it has a reworked version of "A Tout Le Monde" (with Cristina Scabbia from Lacuna Coil on guest vocals), which is cool but I never know how to feel when bands cover their own songs on future albums...

My Silent Return...

Somebody sent me one of these survey things...and I was sitting around doing nothing. so I filled it out...then for some reason I thought I'd post it here since I haven't written anything here in a while...it's below the rest of this message...

Thanks to everyone for all the kind words and support...it was all very much appreciated...sorry I haven't really been in touch...and sorry in advance if you don't get regular updates from me...

In other news, I recently got promoted at ye olde job...it was either take that or jump ship to do TV editorial work at another company...which would have been tempting, but I'll be handling approvals for toys and games now (plus the food/candy/beverage accounts I already managed), which is something I haven't really done much of...I did come in at the tale end of development on the mobile phone games "Brady Bunch Kung Fu" and "Jimmy Neutron's Dimension Dash" at Viacom - but that was mostly testing and QA stuff (my name's in the credits though)...so yeah, I'll take a stab at the toy/game thing for a little while and see what happens...

Here's that survey thing I mentioned:

[H] - HOMETOWN: I was born in a hospital somewhere in Hollywood but have lived in Westchester my entire life...

[I] - INSTRUMENT(s): Guitar...too bad I suck at it...

[J] - JUICE: Please.

R.I.P., Kiyoshi...

04-10-07

Today I really felt the pain of true loss for the first time in my life. My father's cousin Kiyoshi passed away. His sister found his body at his home and we're guessing he passed away on Saturday. It's weird because I was just talking to someone about how I'm not close at all with any of my extended family, which is true, but there's always an exception to the rule. Kiyoshi was that exception. He was the one member of my extended family that I kept in contact with on a regular basis and whenever we would get together we would watch really awful movies for hours on end. It's hard to believe I just saw him a week and a half ago and now he's gone.

I was always a weird kid growing up, but it was Kiyoshi who is either the one to thank or the one to blame for me being who I am (and by that I mean a total weirdo)...all it took was showing me "Army of Darkness" on New Year's Day so many many years ago and I got hooked on B-movie cinema and really off the wall stuff. He was a constant inspiration to me and always a being of fascination. When my father came to this country it was Kiyoshi who took him under his wing and showed him around and played all sorts of wonderful classical music for my father. He had such an amazing knowledge of classical music and culture...but at the same time had a thing for sci-fi, fantasy, horror, anything weird... New Year's Day was always interesting in that he could be talking to my father about Verdi's Requiem and all sorts of composers and operas and then turn to me to talk about zombie movies. Kiyoshi was the coolest dude I ever met in my entire life and it trips me out even more that I was related to him. I have nothing but good things to say about him and all my memories of him were happy ones...even when he was miserable he was always in good spirits...I always said to my parents that he was probably the happiest dude I know...

Kiyoshi, all I can say is that I will miss you so fucking much. You were such a great friend to me. There is a deep sadness in my heart and it pains me that I'm going to be living the rest of my life without you in it, but I will always have and cherish the memories. So goodbye, my friend, until we meet again...in the words of Ash, HAIL TO THE KING!

Yahoo! Personals

"Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia." ~ Charles Schulz

Today is Easter. Many Christians across this country will be celebrating the world's most famous zombie today. But that's not what I came here to talk about...anyways...

So I log on to my Yahoo! account to check my email and I see a general mail from Yahoo! Personals stating "What are you waiting for?"...so I opened it because I have nothing better to do with my time...and damn, usually these 'find a date' emails feature some 'sexy' girl (if you're a guy... maybe... I suppose... zombies... jelly... grapety?)...but with this one I came face to face with something...different:

...

...yeah, seriously...and they gave no explanation for the image only to be known as "Boney Pete"...but there was all the usual lingo: Try it out for free!, Sign up now!, Do you Yahoo!?, etc...I can only guess that they mean I need to get off my lazy, dead ass and go out and get laid...well, if I'm ever looking for a dead guitar player straight out a Dia de Los Muertos festival, I'll have to give Yahoo! Personals a try...which, by the way, just got way cooler by my standards...

The Yaseum: Exhibit One

Currently listening to: "I am the World" by Mortis

I mark my (not so) triumphant return with a new (occasional) feature that exists because of a request from The Yas. If I see anything interesting in my world or the world you humans dwell in, I'll try to capture an image of it. Get ready to be disappointed...

Exhibit One: "Gloomy in A Minor"
